site; there are many of those on the Internet—as there should be.
MJTruthNow was created to provide Michael Jackson’s supporters with
evidence of his innocence and to encourage media to treat news subjects as human beings deserving of respect, basic privacy and, above all, the presumption of innocence.
Media play a huge role in our lives. Modern
telecommunications, cable and broadcasting companies have the power to
uplift or destroy living, striving and contributing persons. Newspapers,
TV, radio, the Internet, movies, books and magazines inform and
influence our ideas, opinions, values and beliefs. They shape our
understanding of the world and frame the public discourse. Our work is
inspired by the life of Michael Jackson who was stigmatized and
brutalized by media for much of his adult life. Even if Jackson had
been guilty of a crime, he would not have merited the savage treatment
he received at the poison pens of mass media. No humiliation was too
great, no debasement too complete for the forces of media as it reported
about Michael Jackson. Our projects inform and educate and will, we
hope, turn the tide of the deterioration of mainstream media into
medialoid—defined as traditional media infected by tabloid journalism.
